Welcome to my blog
So this is a place I rant and rave, wear my heart on my sleeve, gush on my family, and most importantly share my art...the photo stories of wonderful couples and people I cross paths with. Don't be afraid to bookmark it, or leave a comment. I love hearing from everyone and anyone. Check back frequently...I will try to keep you updated.

ps- we are missing the "work- out Mom", the I- wear- flats Mom", "the gardening Mom", the I-wear-a-bikini-and-I-am-over-30-Mom" (not bragging, I really work at that!!), the "lose your cool Mom" ...well you get the point. Lots of jobs we have don't require heels or white gloves, although I do love those dresses, and her sassy short hair.
I wanted to share an image I found that made me smile.
I have a lot to blog, just finding the time with last minute shoots and family togetherness...blog has suffered.
I am praying for some warm and sun-shiney weather today for an e-sesh this afternoon.
There is so much happening around the brocastle like a new church we are a part of, a vacation in February that will require bathing suits!!!, our anniversary is approaching, and a bunch of exciting things. I will post more soon when I have more time to empty my head here.
Thanks for your patience to any that have noticed my hiatus the last few weeks. I have been busy, just not busy attending to my blog's needs.
One weird fact that Bill and I were discussing. Is it weird that my beverage of choice is champagne? Is that even considered a real drink? Like wine is chic, and people have tastings, but I have fallen in LOVE with champagne. Bill said it is funny, cause that is a drink for celebrating and toasting. Well here's to you and me...

One thing I am especially thankful for
is that eight years ago this very week, Billy proposed to me in New
Mexico. I had flown in to spend Thanksgiving with him, and he surprised
me in his bedroom out of nowhere. Do I remember what he said exactly,
no, but I promise it took my breath away and made me cry. I know that
he is the most important person to me, even when we can't compromise and
that happens a lot, especially when you have three other lives to
consider and retirement right around the corner (his not mine). I know
that he still takes my breath away on a daily basis, sometimes by the
crazy stuff he comes up with, but mostly because he is my help meet (great book btw)
and my very best friend. We couldn't be more different...he is
organized and meticulous even, I am scattered and easily distracted.
Together we dream of the future and plan moves and homes to build. He
is the person I would most like to spend an evening with and talk to and
share my dreams with. I am so thankful for our chance meeting, a world
away. I am thankful that we were able to have children, and these
abundant blessings God had given us. I am thankful we both can admit we
are wrong, although he is quicker at that than I am, unfortunately. I
am thankful we are where we are, although I feel I am always wishing I
was somewhere else. I want to bloom where we are planted, even if I
don't love this town...I want to learn to.
I am thankful for our friends, we have so many that I can't even name them.
I wish I could be thankful Sumter had a Target, but that is my shallow side putting in her two cents. I am thankful for communication...and that we are working on it every single day.
I am thankful for grace, and forgiveness; without it I would be a sad sack of Ashley. I am thankful for my third baby Abby, who surprised me right before her Daddy's vasectomy. What a fantastic surprise she is, and a blessing. I am blessed to be the Mother to all my children. I never thought I would love this as much as I do...I just read this quote on a friends fb page and it made me cry because it is so true:
Here are a few pics because you know how I love memory lane..
Billy at the terminal in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan (where we met), me in front of my tent in Kyrgyzstan (yes it was that cold), the tattoo Bill got in Kyrgystan, Bill's first trip home to meet my family- my brother Tyler acting like a goof next to him, (no that is not my house, I wish it is one of the homes Frank Lloyd Wright built), the first house we bought together in Summerville, and Bill when he was really skinny before he ran the Chicago marathon. See memory lane has all shapes and sizes of Bil and Ashley. When we met we NEVER worked out...I was probably 15 pounds heavier in the pic with those silly glasses and the brown tank top. fun facts ;)

One last thought...I know a lot of people will get engaged in the next few days and weeks and I wish you God's richest and sweetest blessings. I know that 2011 will be such an amazing year. God blessed me with a fairly quiet and manageable year this year, but 2011...game on. I hope you love your family today, enjoy their company, think about your blessings. and share them with somebody. Here are a few pics because you know how I love memory lane..

I was a little nervous driving to Ashley's house, on one very beautiful October day. I had not met Ashley yet, and was hoping we would hit it off. It was sunny and tank top weather. October in South Carolina is beautiful, as it is usually getting cold everywhere else. Here it still feels like summer is barely hanging on with it's last warm breaths.
I arrived to a house full of women that I knew or that were friends of friends. Maegan and Jenny- sisters of our groom Chad, knew my work and also Maegan is a fantastic hairdresser I have worked with before. She seemed to throw together like eight beautiful heads of wedding hair, only this was not typical southern wedding hair. It was loose and easy and beautiful. Please keep her in mind if you need a stylist...she did make-up too...I just love her! Of course I have to get the info for the details of this beautiful wedding...comin up.
Please enjoy these pics as I enjoyed this family tremendously!!

You are such a good writer, Ashley. I enjoy reading your blogs. You should consider going into writing somehow..along with your photography. You are very talented! Hmm..let's see...you should create a blog/website just for moms and offer some creative photo shoots to go with that theme somehow. However, I'm sure you could come up with something better than that haha.
