Brittney was our nanny for quite some time. She helped get me through a another crazy season when I was pregnant and had two small kiddos...wait I still do have two small kiddos. Okay they were much smaller and in need of some care and attention when I would edit and run errands/shoot etc. She was really wonderful with my kids and Wesley swore he was going to marry her. Brittney has those eyes that seem to be yelling "hey sun, shine in me because I have so much dimension and tonal quality no one will truly know if you don't". Too bad light colored eyes are really hard to photograph in sunlight...squinty, burny, teary...etc. Can't tell here, though.
I love ya Britt!! Wedding pics will be up shortly...super shortly.

So i have to write a little bit before you see these, unless you sneak and look first...i do that sometimes too ;) I just shot an after-the-wedding bridal session. I have not come up with anything witty or fancy or catchy to call these sessions yet, nor do I think I care to make something up honestly. It became a trash the dress...but I am kind of over that saying. My intention is never to trash anything rather to capture women in ways they may be less likely to pose in before their marriage, to keep from getting dirty or sweaty etc.
Kiley and I were rained out before her wedding...and I am so glad we waited... this session was just me and her. As I have mentioned before Kiley is a photographer and her husband does a lot of artistic and unique photography as well. It is always sort of makes me anxious shooting another photographer because I am like "is she judging me, is she like thinking why is she using that shutter speed?!?" But it was like hanging out with my best friend and laughing and fishing grasshoppers out of her netting...I love Kiley...like want to grow old with Kiley- if that doesn't sound creepy. If you knew her, you would want to grow old with her too. She and I are like two crazy kindred spirits chasing light and chasing away the dogs. The dog that followed us actually licked my skin...like maybe all my skin..legs, arms...trying to shoot a serious few images with a dog licking you is like, well try it...

This is just a few for now, cause I am so excited about how this session turned out. I feel like photographically Kiley and I finish each others sentences...so this session was a dream. We actually didn't even get to one of the "scenes" we had planned. Because she was the guest of honor at her birthday dinner, and was covered in mud, just about up to her collar bones. Kiley I love everything about you...from your temperament to your laugh...I wish you the best in New York. If you ever need anything, I would carry your bag in an instant.

And now to get you thinking....
This is to get you thinking about something I have up my sleeve...a contest of sorts. If you like my bridal portraits...if this is your bag...get some photos ready of yourself, or a friend you want to nominate. I am about to open up submissions for a bridal session contest. I want to offer a free bridal session to a worthy woman who either can't afford great bridal portraits...or for whatever reason want me to shoot their bridal portraits. Get some pics together, get your reasons why you or someone you know should be nominated that needs me/really wants me to shoot their bridal portraits and email me at abrokopatyahoodotcom, or email me through my website. I am sucker for a good story, a love story, a fantastic courtship...military stories, anything heroic...I sound like such a sucker. Call me lonely, call me what you want.
Everybody's got a story...

Ashley, everything you said is exactly how I feel about you.. Can we just grow old together please?? You are such a wonderful, unique lady and I already miss you so much!! I can't wait to see the rest of our pictures, these turned out so beautiful and I'm in love with the pond shots!! You can't even see the gooey mud I was squatting in!! :) I will cherish that day forever.

I think life is just more amazing and more interesting when you surround yourself with Emily's. I know quite a few and every one of them is beautiful and interesting in a unique and fantastic way. That theory proves true again for this Emily, whose bridal session I shot in Savannah. We were faced with a bit of in-climate weather, but make lemonade with our lemons. Her wedding was posted just a few back and you get to again enjoy this fantastic Vera Wang gown which is so beautiful it makes me want to cry.
