Welcome to my blog
So this is a place I rant and rave, wear my heart on my sleeve, gush on my family, and most importantly share my art...the photo stories of wonderful couples and people I cross paths with. Don't be afraid to bookmark it, or leave a comment. I love hearing from everyone and anyone. Check back frequently...I will try to keep you updated.

I have lots to blog, but first I wanted to share some iphone pics of the
fam. The girls love to have tea parties, duh ;) There is one creative
shot of Wesley in "time out" on the stairs, and a walk we took, dinner
out, a DIY project (refinishing table/chairs) and the
always-an-adventure Sumter Mall kiddie rides. Also, I promise to blog
more. I hate going to a blog and it's the same post that I have read,
and maybe it has been a week or two...well guilty. It makes you feel
like it has wasted 30 valuable seconds of your life. no more time
wasted.
Also, Ashley Brokop Photography is now visible on the
iphone/ipad/most any mobile device!! I have lots of stuff to add, and
more pictures to upload, but hey at least you don't get the stupid flash
message that makes you wanna scream. boo-yah!! you're welcome ;)
love to you on this late thurs.

BACK TO SCHOOL BASH: FB link here
Where: Elevation Global Columbia1216 Piney Branch Road
Eastover, SC
When: 5:00
Why: Good message, good music, good friends, free school supplies
free food, bounce house, live band!
How: walk, drive, hitchhike- no really, we'll come pick you up
We will be giving away TONS of school supplies. There will be an ipod giveaway, a live band, a bounce house for the kiddos, free sack lunches (just like I used to carry to school!!) and tons of new friends waiting to meet you
There is nothing like being connected in your town or a town near you. Like the song from the show "Cheers" "you wanna go where everybody knows your name".
Bill and I used to go to church, for years actually where we wouldn't talk to anyone, wouldn't say anything. We would just walk in...hear the message...and walk out. THEN we had kids, and started almost wanting that connection, and it was hard not to because when you drop your kids off at the nursery people start to get to know you.
There is nothing like going through life, with people like you. People with heartache and pressure, and hurts and insecurities and addictions...I could go on forever. We are all made of the same stuff and need fellowship/human interaction. This is not that church where you stand up and everyone claps when you are a first time guest...I have been to TONS of churches as a first time guest. I've been the only white person, been the only not dressed up person...you name it, I've got church stories.
You often hear people ask...why so many churches SC? Well no one says there are too many restaurants. There is a church for every type of person. And nowadays you can test the water before you take a bath...I am posting some of my favorite messages below. If Steven Furtick speaks to you, like he speaks to me...then this might be your cup of tea...or your sushi roll. If you rated churches like you rate movies, this one would probably be PG13. A lot of people want G church, where you go, you listen, you leave. I want a church that changes my train of thought and empowers me to make a difference every week. I don't always do that, but every day and every week is a new chance to do something instead of doing nothing.
These messages are full of hope, and passion if you are still reading then you should watch one. This may just be the hope or change or thing you needed.
Treatment series: any of them. they are all amazing.
There is a message about anxiety, depression, addiction, and self-esteem (current sermon)http://www.elevationchurch.org/sermons

After all the talk of Texas, then Raleigh...
A few things have happened
1) Bill's Dad's lung collapsed and he had major surgery just a few weeks ago. Things like this really make what is important so obvious.
2) After many prayers, and downright begging to God (and praying for his will)...our house never sold. Not even an offer. This is the 2nd time mind you, that we have tried to sell this house, with zero luck. This isn't a sucky house, it is a pretty cool house with space and room and a big yard and low utility bills and...you get the idea. It isn't Elm Street. (yeah yeah 80's moving on)
And yes, we prayed to the sweet Lord and his Son, and even buried the St. Joseph statue*- to cover all the spiritual bases, if you will.
3) We were asked to be part of a core team to get an Elevation Global site in Columbia started. (our FB page) If you know anything about Pastor Steven you know he believes in audacious faith and sun stand still prayers. (His book is blowing my mind, btw- see quotes below)
4) Bill reminded me that he once said he wouldn't do a day over 20 years in the service and poof...he's way over "a day over". So he has decided to retire...
There it is...next June we are done!! We are staying put for a while.
I do not believe in coincidences and I think we are right where we are supposed to be. "Bloom where you are planted". I hear & read this all the time & nothing could be truer. When you are in God's will, you are in the right place. We have wished for years to have family close and my MIL & FIL are here and my sister is here too. Sometimes the best friends you could ever ask for are right in front of you...
I want to leave you with two quotes from "Sun Stand Still", Pastor Steven's new book, because they took my breath away punched me in my stomach.
"1)If you're not daring to believe God for the impossible, you're sleeping through some of the best parts of your Christian life.
2) If the size of your vision for your life isn't intimidating to you, there's a good chance it's insulting to God."
*I'm not really looking for opinions about this...if you don't believe in the statue, just don't buy one :) Spiritual bullying only makes people feel like poop.
Erin says:
I love it! Especially the St. Joseph statue. I'm not a very religious person, but it gives me hope and inspiration to read something spiritual like this... Keep on doing what you're doing. We're in a similar position here, no family super close, but my IL's are all about an hour away. I keep thinking we're here "alone" but really, if we just pick up the phone and ask for help, we get it. XO XO -Erin F
